George Clooney celebrates his 50th birthday today.
Born to a family of entertainers (his father Nick was a TV game show host and his aunt Rosemary was a famous jazz singer), Clooney's good looks helped earn him bit parts on several popular '80s sitcoms.
He had memorable roles as a handyman in "The Facts of Life" and a detective in "The Golden Girls." In the early 90s, he charmed audiences as Booker on "Roseanne." But it was his role as Dr. Doug Ross on "E.R." that cemented his status as leading man and made the Caesar haircut popular again.

What's next for gorgeous George? He's shot down rumors that he's running for office, but continues his humanitarian work for Darfur and Haiti. He's also working on a film project entitled "The Ides of March."
Happy birthday George!
