Rayna James may be gone, but the drama isn't.
CMT released the first look at the second half of "Nashville" Season 5, introducing new characters, a few romantic entanglements and giving fans a glimpse into how the show will play without star Connie Britton.
The midseason premiere will pick up 10 weeks after the events of the midseason finale, which saw the funeral for James after she died from injuries sustained in a car accident. "Deacon helps Daphne with a school project, but Daphne feels unmotivated. Juliette gives Maddie unsolicited advice about a song. Scarlett and Gunnar receive news about the baby," the network said in a press release.

In it, we see Juliette (Hayden Panettiere) struggle with returning to the stage and questioning Avery's (Jonathan Jackson) devotion, Daphne (Maisy Stella) making friends with a homeless teen, Maddie (Lennon Stella) and Clay (Joseph David-Jones) interacting with racist cops, Will (Chris Carmack) embroiled in a potential love triangle and Scarlett (Clare Bowen) and Gunnar (Sam Palladio) dealing with baby drama.
Oh yeah, and the last two also get held up at gunpoint.
The trailer also shows Rachel Bilson and Kaitlin Doubleday in action. The "O.C." alum plays a "Silicon Valley market marketing expert who is brought in to take Highway 65 to the next level," while Doubleday is a singer/songwriter who returns to Nashville following a scandal.
"Nashville" returns to CMT on June 1.
