Caitlyn Jenner may have spent Father's Day with daughters Kendall and Kylie, but she's still very much on the outs with the rest of the Kardashian family.

In a clip from Tuesday's episode of "The View," Kim Kardashian explained that she hasn't yet made amends with Caitlyn following the major fallout from her latest book. That being said, she remains optimistic about the future.

"She'll always be my stepdad and always be a person that raised me and taught me so much in life, really stepped up to the plate and took over for my dad when he passed away and I'll never forget what Caitlyn instilled in us as kids, so I'll never forget that ... she'll always be a part of me," Kardashian explained. "Have I talked to her in the last couple months? No."

"But we're not that kind of family," she said. "We're just taking a breather, we'll get it together, we have siblings. It'll work out."

Kim told the women that she "definitely got upset" about some of the claims made about her mother and sisters in the book.

"In our family, we definitely are always so close and stick through everything, so everything definitely is going to be fine," she explained, "but to say that I was a little shocked by putting some things out there that just weren't true or really didn't make sense or were hurtful, when I feel like at the end of the day, my mom and Caitlyn had a 25 year relationship and you gotta have some respect for it."

When asked by Joy Behar if she thinks Caitlyn said what she did just to "sell books," Kim was diplomatic with her answer.

"I think maybe their stories are different, maybe their accounts are different, I don't want to discredit her feelings or her account," she said, "but when all of us were there witnessing some things and seeing things really different, it was really surprising to me."
