Kate Hudson is the life of her own parties -- literally.
In her cover story for Cosmo, the actress and author of "Pretty Fun" discusses her rules for having the best time, staying in the best shape and who she calls when she's on the verge of a meltdown.
"My No. 1 rule for parties is that the host always has to be having the most fun," she said. "I've had windows break at my house. I've had to reupholster my chairs and my sofas. There's not party that I've had where I haven't gotten the call from my friends the next day that just said, 'Ugh, I needed that -- that was so much fun. I had the best time.'"
Hudson added that having "a really very stocked bar" was also key. Also, make sure you empty your stomach before you arrive to the party. And if possible, bring Matthew McConaughey.
See Hudson's candid responses below, and read her entire interview when the October 2017 issue of Cosmopolitan hits newsstands Sept. 5.
The only thing I need at any party is: Tequila.
The best after-party I've ever been to was: There are a couple Golden Globe after=parties that were pretty fun -- at someone who will remain nameless' house.
I feel sexiest when: I'm naked and about to have sex?
The worst thing a party guest could do is: Do a No. 2 in the guest bathroom. Do not poop in the guest bathroom. Just don't do it.
My morning routine is: Coffee, kids, breakfast, I try to meditate, I water my bonsai, and school drop-off and then I start my day.
The advice I would give my 15-year-old self is: It's always a hard question because I got naughtier as I got older. Maybe it would've been to like loosen up a little bit then, you know? But I feel like I made up for it by the time I was like 19.

To me, being healthy means: Staying connected! Tuning in and listening to what your body needs. Exercise, meditation, sleep, etc.
My happiest moment in the last year was: Working with Sia on our special project and knowing that no matter what, I will always have a lifelong friend in her. What a beautiful person.
My post-sweat-session beauty hacks: Shaving your head J Cuts down on time spent post-sweat.
When I'm on the verge of a meltdown, the first person I call is: Oliver Hudson (my brother)...to make me laugh. The best advice he ever gave me was: Nobody cares! 'There's about 7 plus billion people in the world who don't give a shit.'
Of all my former costars, here's the one I'd:
Trust with a major secret: Kurt Russel (Pa)
Spend a weekend in Vegas with: [Matthew] McConaughey
Pick as a roommate: Liv Tyler
Ask to play my leading mag again: Larry David!
