Another round of Golden Globe nominations predictably yielded another round of Twitter outrage on Monday.
The biggest snubs that has film fans all riled up as we head into the 2018 Hollywood awards season include critically acclaimed directors Greta Gerwig ("Lady Bird"), Jordan Peele ("Get Out"), Dee Rees ("Mudbound") and Patty Jenkins ("Wonder Woman") not getting recognized in the category, which was dominated by white dudes: Guillermo del Toro ("The Shape of Water"), Martin McDonough ("Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri"), Christopher Nolan ("Dunkirk"), Ridley Scott ("All the Money In the World") and Steven Spielberg ("The Post").

View StoryOf course, that's not to say none of the filmmakers nominated didn't deserve the recognition for the work, but ever since #OscarsSoWhite became a thing, the calls for gender and racial diversity at major award shows have only gotten louder.
"The Golden Globes could have nominated Greta Gerwig, Dee Rees, Jordan Peele or even Patty Jenkins for Best Director. But no, we got five white men. Very disappointed," one person tweeted.
Gerwig, who made a stunning directorial debut after years of being an indie sensation as an actress and screenwriter, broke a review record as "Lady Bird" became Rotten Tomatoes' best-reviewed film in history. Jenkin's "Wonder Woman" was not just one of 2017's highest grossing films, but also one of the most beloved superhero movies in years, completely stealing the spotlight of the DC universe from both Batman and Superman. And although Peele's "Get Out" was nominated for Best Motion Picture, Comedy or Musical, the director and writer didn't make the cut.

Greta Gerwig deserved that nomination for sure. Lady Bird is only the best reviewed movie ever on Rotten Tomatoes. Huge accomplishment for a first-time director. Instead, Ridley Scott gets a nomination for a film few, if any, have even seen yet. 🤦🏻♂️
