The 1987 comedy gets an update, but we're not sure why.

"Overboard" is the latest '80s movie to get a remake, with a twist.

Anna Faris and Eugenio Derbez take over the roles made famous by Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell in "Overboard," only this time it's Faris' character who tricks a man into thinking they're married.

The actress plays Kate, a carpet cleaner who's left feeling some major contempt towards Derbez's pompous yacht-owner named Leonoardo after he treats her like crap on the job. Alleged hilarity ensues after he's knocked off said boat and left with amnesia, with Kate getting revenge by making him believe he's both poor and her husband.

This is the kind of thing that movies could get away with in the '80s or '90s, but now seems pretty creepy when you really think about it.

The trailer also highlights Leo's confusion over how white the couple's supposed children are -- she tells him he's sterile -- and the difficulties he runs into trying to put in an honest day's work in construction.

The remake, also starring Eva Longoria, opens April 20, 2018.
