If you thought you were prepared, you're not.
"This Is Us" fans have been wearily waiting for the death of Jack Pearson and Tuesday they began freaking out that tonight might be the night.
Fans are on high alert after it was leaked that even media -- which normally gets screeners ahead of the air time (jealous?) -- didn't get an opportunity to view the episode before it premieres on NBC.
"All I have to say is if TONIGHT is the night that they reveal how Jack dies, I'm taking bereavement leave tomorrow," one fan tweeted.
"I am genuinely afraid of tonight's 'This Is Us.' Turns out I do not need to know how Jack dies or see it or feel that pain thanks byeeeeeeeeeee," another added.
The death of Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) has been teased since Season 1. Based upon the breadcrumbs that the brilliant writers have so graciously dropped for us, fans believe his alcoholism plays a role in the inevitable fire accident. Last week, the writers ridiculously foreshadowed the fire by pandering to the lowest common denominator of forgetting to buy new batteries for their home's smoke detector.
But we found some good news! Entertainment Weekly reported earlier today that the hit drama's post-Super Bowl episode will actually be the one with "relatively disastrous results."
That's right, even if Eagles or Patriots fans are lucky enough to avoid tears of sadness by the time the game is over, those that stick around for "This Is Us" will be crying no matter what.
As for tonight's episode, executive producer Isaac Aptaker told EW that the last five minutes just might be his favorite thing that they've done on the show to date.
"I think it's going to leave our audience very eager to see what happens next," Aptaker said.
