Hewitt says she feels like the "bodyguard of a national treasure" when they go out, recalling the night she saved White from a drunken tumble into some bushes.
James Corden totally admitted how jealous he was of their friendship on "The Late Late Show" Tuesday night, saying that the only reason he moved to America was to achieve that level of success. ""Hewitt and White. What is that night out like?" he asked, and don't we all want to know.
We learned that White is a "pizza and vodka" girl, and that she knows how to have a good time. Hewitt recalled a specific "date" the two enjoyed when filming a project together.
"It's the most nervous date I've ever been on my life, by the way," she said. "I don't drink a lot, so maybe three-and-a-half vodkas in, I was like, 'Whoo, I'm feeling this dinner with Betty White!'"
Everything seemed to be going great until they got up to leave and realized those vodkas had hit a little harder than they thought. "All of a sudden I see that Betty is sort of like going this way," Hewitt said, leaning hard to her right.
She said she had an instant flash. "I was like, 'Oh my God, I am like the bodyguard of a national treasure. You have got to snap it together. Like don't kill Betty White on your date.'
It was a close call, but Hewitt says they were able to keep White from stumbling into some bushes, and then for a nighcap, White invited her up to her and offered the most adorable conclusion to their date.
"She offers me-- her nightcup is gummi bears," Hewitt said with a smile. "I mean, shut the front door and lock it, she's perfect."
