"Today" show co-hosts Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb react to Julie Chen's decision to leave "The Talk"

Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb are on the same page regarding Julie Chen's decision to leave "The Talk."

The "Today" show co-hosts stopped by "Watch What Happens Live" Monday night, where they told Andy Cohen how they felt about Julie's exit from the show after her husband, Les Moonves, parted ways with CBS following a slew of sexual misconduct allegations.

"I think that was probably a tough decision for her," Hoda said. "That show -- and I really love that show, actually -- you have to give so much of your own personal life in it. I think it would be hard. I sort of get it. It would be hard to be on that show if you couldn't share, so I sort of understood."

"You have to respect her," Savannah added. "Whatever she decides, we have to respect her."

Does Savannah Have Any Interview Regrets?

Andy then put Savannah in the hot seat about some of her most recent and controversial interviews.

Omarosa Manigault Newman

Savannah said she has no regrets regarding her recent interview with former White House aid Omarosa Manigault Newman ahead of the latter's release of her tell-all book, "Unhinged."

"She said, 'Slow down, Savannah' -- which, actually, my assistant made a coffee mug that says, 'Slow down, Savannah,'" she quipped. "But then at the end, she said, 'I'm out of time. I have to go.' So I don't know if I would do anything differently. She was on the show, she was promoting her book -- then she said she had to go, she had something better to do. I leave it at that."

"I've never met anyone who wanted less time to sell their book," she added. "But then she was like, 'I'm out.'"

Hoda said she thought Savannah was "masterful" with how she handled the sit-down, and Andy agreed.

Bob Woodward

Savannah was the first person to interview Pulitzer Prize winner Bob Woodward following the release of his book, "Fear," an unsparing look at President Donald Trump's administration.

"I can't remember that so much, but I don't know. Should I have done something differently?" she asked Hoda.

"I think Bob Woodward -- it was like precision surgery. It really was," Hoda replied.

"The only thing I'll say is like, whoever it is, I think we try to give them a fair shake," Savannah added. "Everybody gets a tough question. If you're coming, you get a tough question."

Kellyanne Conway

Savannah also held an interview with Trump's Counselor, Kellyanne Conway, during which the latter defended Trump's tweets about the travel ban.

"I always try to look at it as a professional," Savannah said. "They're doing their job, I'm doing mine. Their job is to promote their message. That's their job. And my job is to try to cut through that and try to elicit something real and new. And sometimes I succeed, sometimes I don't, but that's all on behalf of people watching."

Robin Wright

Savannah was the first person to interview Robin Wright for the new season of "House of Cards" after the sexual misconduct claims made against Kevin Spacey got him booted from the Netflix series.

"She knew and everyone knew that was gonna be a key part of the interview," Savannah said. "'What did you think when you heard this about Kevin Spacey? Did you ever see any sign?' I tried to ask those questions, but I also tried to be respectful of her, you know? It's not her job to answer for the alleged misdeeds of her co-star."

Never Have I Ever: Host Edition

"Most of mine," Hoda quipped. Savannah added that asking Khloe Kardashian if Robert Kardashian was her dad was her most regrettable interview question.

"Mine was when I asked Oprah if she's ever swum in the lady pond with like a minute left in the show," Andy added.
