Many Ariana Grande fans have savaged the "Saturday Night Live" star throughout their relationship, but took it to another level after its end.

Ariane Grande and Pete Davidson have reportedly broken off their engagement, and possibly their entire relationship, according to TMZ.

While the breakup hasn't been officially confirmed by either party at this time, sources close to the couple told TMZ, who broke the story, that things are over romantically between the two. "It was way too much too soon," a source close to Grande told People. "It's not shocking to anyone."

Meanwhile, another source told Us Weekly that they've not officially ended everything yet. "They realized it happened too quick and too early," the source said. "The wedding is off, but they're working things out. They're not officially done yet."

All of the sources seem to agree that it was a mutual decision between the singer and "Saturday Night Live" star. Representatives for Davidson and Grande have not yet responded to TooFab's request for comment.

While Davidson has talked as recently as two weeks ago about their relationship on "SNL," giving no indication of any problems, Grande had mostly withdrawn from the public eye.

Hit hard by the death of former boyfriend Mac Miller, and the anniversary of the terror attack at her concert in Manchester, the singer removed herself from social media and canceled a scheduled appearance on the season premiere of "SNL," saying she needed time to herself.

She had recently started to open up on social media again, engaging with her loyal and supportive fan base. As of Sunday night, her social accounts remain untouched, with pictures of her and Davidson still present. Meanwhile, Davidson's accounts appear to no longer be active.

Perhaps it was a preemptive strike by Davidson in anticipation of the inevitable fallout of this news. Many people on social media savaged him when they first got together, got engaged, got tattoos symbolizing one another, made crude jokes about her on "SNL" and on the stage. Basically, anything.

While the couple definitely had their supporters, despite its whirlwind pace, there was a large contingent of Grande fans who seemed to hate that the singer, who named a song after him on her latest album, ever gave him the time of day. And boy have they come out of the woodwork on Sunday night.

Below are some of the harshest comments as Grande fans process their own emotional investment in the breakup by trashing the guy. It is an age-old tradition, after all.
