The gracious Swifty describes the singer as "the light at the end of the tunnel" while expressing her gratitude.
Taylor Swift has carried out another random act of kindness, this time allowing her feline friends to take some credit, too.
The pop star donated $15,500 to fan Sadie Bartell's GoFundMe asking for $40,000 to help support her family while they care for the matriarch, Lauriann Bartell, who fell into a coma three years ago.
The 19-year-old asked her Twitter followers for donations for the cause, and that request found its way to Swift. She forked over the very generous amount three days ago with the message, "Love, Taylor, Meredith and Olivia Swift." Swift fans should recognize the latter names as the singer's beloved pet cats.
Hey guys. I’m really nervous to post this. Please help if you can and pray for my family. I’m sorry I never said anything sooner and that I’m suddenly asking for help. I love you guys so much. https://t.co/Jww8qR7Xqu pic.twitter.com/3cXm2o47lg— Sadie 🍁 (@swiftsinautumn) October 2, 2018
After Sadie saw Swift’s contribution, she took to Facebook to share just how much the donation meant to her.
"Everyone who knows me knows that Taylor Swift is my whole entire life. She has been there for me more than anyone. I really, truly, would not be who I am without her," she wrote. “She shows up every time I need her. She always has, and she always will. I wish that I could express how much it means to me that ANYONE has helped my family over the years, let alone Taylor. She is the light at the end of the tunnel and is truly the best thing that has ever happened to me."
Swift also appears to have given the crowdfunding campaign some beneficial PR, too. Swift broke a 13-day dry spell, and since she tossed her share in the pot, dozens of others have pitched in anywhere from $5 to $100 each.
The GoFundMe summed up the family's predicament as follows:
"Over 3 years ago on August 30th Lauriann went to the hospital with a bleeding ulcer. The doctors cauterized it but due to it's proximity to an artery she lost a lot of blood. They rushed her to emergency surgery to stop the bleeding but during that time she lost oxygen to her brain. This caused an unknown amount of brain damage and left her in a coma. Mike her faithful husband rarely leaves her side. They have 6 beautiful children.
As you can imagine medical costs continue to accumulate and so this is a way to help ease the financial burden placed upon their family.
Lauriann is an amazing person filled with love and kindness toward all. Any assistance, prayers, and shares are so appreciated. Even if you are unable to donate at this time please share! Thank you for your generosity."
In Sadie's personalized pitch on Twitter, she wrote, "I'm happy to help take care of her and I'm happy to provide for my family but I am nineteen and everything is really hard right now. I feel like I've reached by breaking point."
Swift is no stranger to helping out her fans. Just last month she met 8-year-old fan Jacob Hill, who was in need of a service dog. Jacob is autistic and Taylor donated $10,000 to help match Jacob with the perfect pup. He and his family were given front-row seats and backstage passes to Swift's "Reputation" show in Houston, where Jacob and his new dog Reid met with Swift.
"Taylor Swift was so kind. She said Reid was a big puffball and so cute. She was especially awesome with Jacob," Jacob’s mom Allison Hill wrote on Facebook. "She didn’t see my son’s disability she just saw him. She got down on her knees and looked him right in the eyes and said hello and that she was thankful HE came to her show even though she knew it was loud and there was so much going on.”
