"The first lady will cut a bitch," Colbert jokes.
Late-night hosts Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel delighted Tuesday in news that Melania Trump was flexing her first lady power to get deputy national security adviser Mira Ricardel fired from the White House.
According to The New York Times, Melania was offended by Ricardel disparaging two members of her staff that traveled to Africa with the firs lady last month, and Melania believed the adviser was spreading negative stories about the administration.
"It is the position of the office of the first lady that she no longer deserves the honor of serving in this White House," Melania's spokeswoman, Stephanie Grisham, said in a statement to the media in response to inquires about validity of the beef.
Colbert described the statement as "a classy way to diss somebody," and then imagined the next statement: "Furthermore it is the position of this office that the first lady will cut a bitch."
He joked that Melania sent Ricardel packing with "her traditional goodbye gift: a jacket that says, 'You don't really work here anymore, do U?'"
Kimmel seemed thrilled to hear that President Donald Trump's wifre is "getting in on the action" of firing people. "Be Best is now Be Gone," the ABC star joked, and noted "It's very strange for a first lady to do something like this."
He read that the root of their dispute was an argument over seating arrangements on a flight back from Africa.
"According to the story, Ricardel wanted Melania to sit in the middle section of the plane and Melania wanted to jump out of it," Kimmel joked.
CNN reported Wednesday morning that it's still not clear if Ricardel has actually been dismissed, and cited a White House insider saying that neither President Trump, his chief of staff John Kelly or press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders knew that Melania would be releasing the statement condemnin Ricardel.
