A red hot red carpet!
Katie Holmes, Odeya Rush and Taylor Swift stole the spotlight at the New York City premiere of "The Giver" on Monday night, color-coordinating in shades of pinks and reds.
Holmes showed off her thin frame in a light pink Zac Posen dress with a gathered bodice and pleated chiffon skirt. She paired her elegant ensemble with a high top knot, smoky eye makeup and a pink lip.
Rush rocked a scarlet Georges Hobeika gown with an embellished bodice, completing her look with a dramatic cat eye and bright pink lipstick.
Swift donned a dual-toned Monique Lhuillier dress with red bodice and blush tea-length skirt. The "Red" singer paired her gown with her signature cat eye and red lip combo and a dramatic side part with retro waves.
While some might think the actresses were merely aiming to match their outfits to the red carpet, fans of the book might make a symbolic connection between the story and the color of choice.
In "The Giver," the characters live in a sheltered, black-and-white world, and protagonist Jonas gets his first flash of enlightenment when he sees a glimpse of the color red. Red then continues to recur as a symbol for emotion and freedom throughout the novel.
We don't think this color-coordinated carpet was a coincidence -- do you!?
