It's been 8 years since Anna Nicole Smith's tragic death, leaving behind her 8-month-old daughter. Now 9, Dannielynn is the spitting image of her famous mama -- and starting to learn the truth about the Playmate's past.
Her father, Larry Birkhead sat down with ET and revealed how the pair have dealt with life without Anna Nicole and how Larry keeps the late star's memory alive.
"I look at her and she's my everything," Larry said of his little girl. "She reminds me so much of her mom and as she gets older, and her features are changing, it's just like having a little miniature Anna Nicole running around in so many ways."
In the interview, the adorable fourth grader opens up about her hobbies, which include playing video and computer games like Minecraft. It seems like Dannielynn has grown into a well-adjusted and normal little girl, despite many worrying she would be affected by her mom's alcohol and drug use.
"We go back all the time and we go to [Anna Nicole's] grave. We visit and I tell Dannielynn stories about her mom," the 42-year-old explained. "I don't sugar coat it. I say there are some things that your mom did and you know I try to make her learn from it."
The father-daughter duo rarely step out in the public eye. Birkhead, who raises his daughter in Kentucky, likes for her to lead a normal life. The pair do make one annual outing to the Kentucky Derby, a tradition they've kept since 2011. Most recently, Larry and Dannielynn attended the 2015 race dressed in matching pink ensembles!
Despite the challenges of explaining her mom's public life to his daughter, he does make sure she knows the important things: That Anna Nicole was a good mom and a good person.
"There is YouTube these days and that stuff's out there and my daughter likes to Google already and I'm trying to keep her from it," Larry said with a laugh. "She'll see things, you know, when she grows up, that not necessarily all true. Was she wild? Yeah, sure. But a great lady, and a great mom."
