When it comes to fashion, Madonna is an "Unapologetic Bitch."
The Queen of Pop had all eyes on her at the "Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology" Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday night, when she showed up wearing a Givenchy dress that left little to the imagination.
While she kept her nipples covered, the sheer, black lace dress exposed both her breasts and backside. The 57-year-old superstar paired the look with knee-high leather boots, a bejeweled headpiece and black KT tape along her thighs and arms.
It was a lotta look.
Though she caught some serious backlash for wearing such a sexy ensemble at her age and for showing skin in general, the "Vogue" singer vigorously defended her fashion choices Wednesday on Instagram.
Note: all grammatical issues are her own!
"When it comes to Women's rights we are still in the dark ages. My dress at the Met Ball was a political statement as well as a fashion statement," she explained in a lengthy post. "The fact that people actually believe a woman is not allowed to express her sexuality and be adventurous past a certain age is proof that we still live in an age-ist and sexist society."
"I have never thought in a limited way and I'm not going to start. We cannot effect change unless we are willing to take risks By being fearless and By taking the road leas traveled by," she continued. "Thats how we change history. If you have a problem with the way I dress it is simply a reflection of your prejudice."
"I'm not afraid to pave the way for all the girls behind me‼️ As Nina Simone once said, the definition of freedom is being fearless," she added in conclusion. "I remain Unapologetic and a Rebel [Heart emoji] in this life and all the others. Join my fight for Gender. Equality."
"Rebel Heart" is a reference to her most recent album.
