Aly Raisman had the best glam squad ever for the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards.
Before hitting the red carpet alongside Final Fivers Madison Kocian, Laurie Hernandez and Simone Biles, the two-time Olympian got ready with the help of one unlikely trio: Chrissy Teigen, John Legend and their daughter, Luna.
Designer Hayley Paige, who dressed Raisman for the awards in a sparkly mini, tells toofab she was definitely caught off guard as Aly's famous friends joined them for their prep session.
"I had no idea! It was such an adorable surprise and there was a family type vibe," she tells us. "John helped Aly's brother tie his tie! It was legendary to say the least."
So ... how the heck did this come about?
Well, their bizarre -- but totally awesome -- relationship started with the supermodel taking to Twitter to publicly solicit Aly's friendship on Thursday, August 25th.

Raisman responded almost immediately, writing, "OMG YES. I love u and ur husband. Can we please be best friends & can I send ur daughter some of my leotards?"
A Twitter convo quickly turned into a real-life meeting for the duo, as Teigen, her man and her baby were all on hand to help the gymnast and her brother, Brett, get all gussied up for the VMAs.

While John and Chrissy may have helped with a few finishing touches, Paige tells us a lot went into picking out the perfect dress.
"Aly has such a starlight quality to her and her self-awareness is something truly unique," she explains. "We tried on a few different looks during her fitting, but she knew exactly what wanted. I love working with someone that has such conviction and confidence when it comes to personal style."
The designer also adds that Aly's look was all about her legs.
"Proportion is everything! When it comes to the red carpet, the only thing more important than looking good is feeling good," she continues. "Aly's frame is perfectly petite and powerful, so we went with a micro mini to show off those hard earned gams!"
