As always, EVERYONE is a critic or at least thinks they are on Oscar Nominations morning and 2017 was no exception with Tuesday's biggest snubs dominating the conversation on Twitter.
Annette Bening was predicted to earn a best actress nomination for her role in "20th Century Women," but came up without. Another surprise was Amy Adams, who went unrecognized for her role in "Arrival."
Here is a sampling of some of the reactions:
"Also, I love Meryl very dearly but her taking Annette Bening's slot is the biggest heist since the Great Train Robbery." -@selfstyledsiren
"Still shocked Annette Bening isn't even nominated. She was exquisite in 20th Century Women." - @iSmashFizzle
"No #AmyAdams for #Arrival? Dammit #OscarNoms she's the emotional core of that film." - @MandaAiley
"#OscarNoms I thought Amy Adams would get nominated for either her roles in Arrival or Nocturnal Animals" - @ChocMilkSheikh1
Other snubs include "Deadpool," for Best Picture, and Tom Ford's "Nocturnal Animals" alongside his personal snub for Best Director.
In brighter news, however, users noted that this year's nominations are far more diverse than previous years, coming off last year's #Oscarsowhite controversy. The 2017 noms nominations include seven people of color among the 20 acting nominations.
