There's a new standalone "Batgirl" movie in the works from DC Extended Universe and one of Marvel's top talents is taking the reigns.

Joss Whedon is reportedly nearing a deal to write, produce and direct the film for Warner Bros., according to Variety.

If finalized, it's a major deal in the comic book movie universe, as Whedon previously directed "Avengers" and "Avengers: Age of Ultron," two Marvel fan favorites.

The superhero was previously played by Alicia Silverstone in "Batman & Robin," Yvonne Craig in the 1960s television show, Dina Meyer on "Birds of Prey" and was most recently voiced by Rosario Dawson in "The Lego Batman Movie."
