Freeform announced on Monday that original stars Sasha Pieterse and Janel Parrish will reprise their characters in "Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists," which received a pilot order three months after the original series ended its seven-season run on the network formerly known as ABC Family.
The new show is based on "Pretty Little Liars" author Sara Shepard's book "The Perfectionist," and is being adapted by "PLL" showrunner and executive producer I. Marlene King.
"I can't wait to introduce our fans — and Sasha and Janel — to a new world of thrills and chills in Beacon Heights," King said in a statement.
Freeform offered the following tease of "The Perfectionists" plot:
Everything about the town of Beacon Heights seems perfect, from their top-tier college to their overachieving residents. But nothing in Beacon Heights is as it appears to be. The stress of needing to be perfect leads to the town's first murder. Behind every Perfectionist is a secret, a lie and a needed alibi.
Pieterse and Parrish will reprise their "PLL" roles of Alison DiLaurentis, the former queen bee who mysteriously disappeared sending the city of Rosewood into shock; and Mona Vanderwaal, who tormented Alison's best friends as the mysterious "A" at the end of Season 2, but ended up beating the uber-villain A.D. at her own game in the series finale.
