"This is the same guy who wouldn't even call Rex Tillerson to tell him he was fired," complains one critic.
Roseanne Barr was still excited during a call-in appearance on "Good Morning America" Thursday morning about receiving a call from the President of the United States congratulating her on "Roseanne's" stellar premiere ratings.
Donald Trump called his long-time friend and congratulate her for the more than 18 million viewers who tuned in. While Barr was excited to hear from him, Twitter tore Trump apart for making time in his schedule for that call. The biggest issues they seemed to have were all of the people that Trump didn't take the time to call, like the Parkland shooting survivors, or the victims' families, or even Rex Tillerson. Still others wondered when he was going to offer her a cabinet position.
But Barr was more than happy to hear from him. "It was pretty exciting, I'll tell you that much," she told George Stephanopoulos. "They said 'Hold please for the President of the United States of America,' and that was about the most exciting thing ever, and it was very sweet of him to congratulate us." When asked what Trump thought of the show, Barr didn't answer directly, instead saying it "was just a friendly conversation about working and television and ratings."
She did talk about why she thinks her show's message is important. "The idea that people can agree to disagree is kind of missing from everything," she explained. "Conflict resolution and agreeing to disagree are important things that I like to feature and talk about and I don't see much of that anywhere. That's what we need to do as a country.
"I really hope it opens up civil conversation between people instead of just mud-slinging," she said, even as the mud-slinging was well underway on Twitter over the president's call. Below are some of the angriest responses:
❌ Address his alleged affair with Stormy Daniels
— Consequence of Sound (@consequence) March 29, 2018
❌ Explain why he's banning trans soldiers from the military
❌ Offer condolences to the latest unarmed black man killed by police
✔️ Call Roseannehttps://t.co/IwMWCGL7eo
Next time Donald Trump doesn't have the time to call a family of a dead US servicemen killed in action, remember that he has the time to call Roseanne Barr to congratulate her on 'ratings'

So trump never called the families of the murdered Parkland teachers but he called Roseanne to congratulate her about her show about nasty white trash. Got it.

More deaths from gun violence & not a word from Trump. But he does have time to personally call Roseanne. Glad he has his priorities in order. 😔#DemForce https://t.co/rK5hZtwX2n

He has no time for kids who get shot at school, or unarmed black men who are murdered by police, or fallen soldiers serving our country...but he has time for ratings. https://t.co/8KLXUR3Oqg

So the family of Scott Beigel, a teacher who died shielding students at Parkland, hasn't heard from Trump yet. But Roseanne Barr gets a personal phone call from him about her ratings only because she's vocal about her support of him. Congrats Roseanne.

So cops killing a black kid armed with a cell phone, then they are told to mute their body cameras, WH comments...crickets! Roseanne Barr gets good ratings for a TV show and receives a personal phone call from Trump. Anyone else see something wrong here?
