Chelsea Clinton responded with positivity and kindness to Roseanne Barr's latest conspiracy-theory-fueled Twitter tirade on Tuesday morning, after the star of ABC's "Roseanne" falsely claimed she was married to the nephew of billionaire philanthropist George Soros.
Barr kicked things off by tweeting, "Chelsea Soros Clinton." She then responded to a comment on her own tweet to tout the debunked Soros theory, which was created by former "Charles in Charge" star Scott Baio in 2016.
Even though it's a theory that's been hounding her for two years, Clinton responded to Barr the way she responds to all of her haters and trolls on social media: She kills them with kindness.
Good morning Roseanne - my given middle name is Victoria. I imagine George Soros's nephews are lovely people. I'm just not married to one. I am grateful for the important work @OpenSociety does in the world. Have a great day! https://t.co/mXokiTEwN7
It's hard to tell how much of that fact checking sunk in for the sitcom star, though, who did respond to Clinton Tuesday morning in a tweet we assume is laced with sarcasm.
Sorry to have tweeted incorrect info about you!I Please forgive me! By the way, George Soros is a nazi who turned in his fellow Jews 2 be murdered in German concentration camps & stole their wealth-were you aware of that? But, we all make mistakes, right Chelsea?
The sitcom star had already moved on to other conspiracy theories and topics that she needed to vent about.First, she dug deeper into the vast conspiracies surrounding Soros' supposed motives for the philanthropic work he does through the Open Society Foundation Clinton cited, as well as other organizations he donates to or sponsors.
soros' goal; the overthrow of us constitutional republic by buying/backing candidates 4 local district attorney races who will ignore US law & favor 'feelings' instead-and call everyone who is alarmed by that 'racist'.
Barr's tweets tapered off by this point, which was getting late into the night on Memorial Day. On Tuesday morning, though, she retweeted Clinton's response, which might seem reconciliatory, but she wasn't done yet. She followed it up with another retweet that dropped "Soros" right back into Clinton's name and claimed he was trying to "take down liberty."
And we've come full circle. It looks like she didn't go read that Snopes article after all. But she has realized her "Planet of the Apes" reference to Jarrett "was in bad taste," and has since apologized.
