Halsey's latest interview may confuse some readers as she professes her love for a boyfriend she broke up with earlier this month.
The pop star's Marie Claire cover story features her gushing about her ex, written as if she's still dating him, with only a quick editor's note clarifying they're no longer dating.
"I love everything about him," she told the publication for its dated August cover story. "He's out of his f--king mind."
The singer even gushed about how her and G-Eazy loved "playing roles" for fun.
"If we wake up and we're in the mood to be old-school, I'll put on a sundress and a hat, and he'll wear his hair slicked back and his shirt tucked in," Halsey said. "And we'll get in his '65 Mustang and drive down to Malibu and go eat in a cafe by the beach and sing Amy Winehouse in the car."
"I've had partners who don't want to play along," she added. "It feels stupid, I love curating an experience, changing it up. And he’s so that way with me. I haven't found someone who matches every version of me until him. Like, he's my left sneaker. For every version of him, there's a version of me to match."
The quotes clearly come from an interview that took place before Halsey told her fans on July 3 that she was "taking some time apart" from G-Eazy. And what fans will read in Marie Clare is a far cry from how she's been alluding to her ex more recently.
Shortly after the split, Halsey deleted all pictures of her and the "No Limit" singer and posted a picture of her with her dog with the caption, 'Kiss my dog on the forehead and then kiss your ass goodbye" -- a take on Drake's "8 out of 10."
The breakup appeared to be on Halsey's mind when she teared up and her voice cracked while singing her hit "Sorry" during her first show after the split.
The August issue of Marie Claire hits newsstands July 19.
