Every Hollywood Star Reacting to 'Roseanne' Cancellation

Preview for series premiere is loaded with laughter.

Life goes on for "The Conners," with or without their matriarch.

ABC dropped the first preview of the "Roseanne" spinoff series, giving fans a glimpse of what the family dynamic is like after Roseanne Conner (Roseanne Barr) leaves.

How that happens, though, is still a mystery. According to the female comedian, her character will be killed off via an opioid overdose.

The trailer doesn't make any reference to Roseanne, though. In fact, it's all laughs, with Jackie (Laurie Metcalf) talking to Darlene (Sara Gilbert) about preparing for the holidays.

"I thought we should talk about a game plan for Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas," Jackie says.

"I say we follow the Conner tradition," Darlene replies. "Spend every dime we have on Halloween and then we have nothing to be thankful for or buy gifts with."

"Roseanne" was canceled after Barr wrote the infamous racist tweet comparing former Barack Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett to an ape. We'll see how Barr's departure is handled when "The Conners" premieres Tuesday, October 16 at 8/7c on ABC.
