EVERY 'Walking Dead' Death Ranked From Heartbreaking to Most Satisfying

After a time jump into the future, it's marvelous to see how far these characters have come after facing so many struggles.

"The Walking Dead" returns this Sunday, but you can get started watching Andrew Lincoln's final season as Rick Grimes right now.

AMC released the first five minutes of the Season 9 premiere, which already looks like it will be loaded with some zombie-bashing action.

It's still unclear just how the hit drama will say goodbye to Rick -- who we followed into the bleak world of "The Walking Dead" when it premiered back in 2010 -- but watching the first few minutes of the show, it's amazing to see how far he's come. It looks like he's found some sort of peace by loving Michonne (Danai Gurira) and raising his daughter with her after losing his wife and son, Carl, in previous seasons.

Plus, we kick off years ahead of the Season 8 finale, at a time when all the different communities appear to be working together towards the greater good. The trailer we saw at Comic-Con, however, ensured there are still some tensions between Rick, Maggie and Daryl, who disagreed on how to handle Negan. We also saw in the trailer that Negan appears to still be locked up this season, when the Whisperers -- a new group of bad guys -- plus comic book characters Yumiko and Magda will make their debut.

It's been a while since that tame Season 8 finale, so click here to catch up on all of the biggest shockers from the episode.

"The Walking Dead" Season 9 premieres Oct. 7 at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
