Canadian Prime Minister calls nationalism a "betrayal of patriotism" at Armistice Day in France on Sunday with Donald Trump sitting uncomfortably nearby.
Just one day after President Trump skipped an event to honor U.S. servicemen and women due to a little rain, he had to listen to French President Emmanual Macron give a speech denouncing "nationalism." Needless to say, Hollywood has not been impressed with how Trump is handling this centennial celebration of Armistice Day.
"Patriotism is the exact opposite of nationalism," Macron said on Sunday as Trump looked on. "Nationalism is a betrayal of patriotism. By putting our own interests first, with no regard for others, we erase the very thing that a nation holds dearest, and the thing that keeps it alive: its moral values."

Hollywood Rips Donald Trump For 'Heartless' Tweet About California Wildfires: 'Demented,' 'Piece of S---'
View StoryTrump, a self-described nationalist, did not join in the applause at the close of Macron's speech.
Honestly, it seems like every day the president is doing or saying something to enrage Hollywood and beyond. Just one day after erroneously blaming California's forest management for the deadly wildfires there, Trump opted out of an event at a memorial for U.S. veterans because of "weather." Meanwhile, other world leaders had no problem attending, and in fact the weather proved inconsequential.
On top of that, celebrities and non-celebs alike took to Twitter in an effort to remind Donald Trump what a world leader does when there's rain in the forecast, whether a little or a lot, but filling Twitter with images of everyone from Angela Merkel to Emmanuel Macron and even Vladimir Putin and Queen Elizabeth II stepping into the elements to do their duty.
Even better, many of them started throwing up pictures of President Obama standing in the pouring rain at various events throughout his time in the office. In Obama's defense, though, his hair wasn't nearly so sensitive to weather phenomena and he didn't feel the need to alter his natural skin tone artificially.
Check out some of the most scathing reactions to Trump choosing to stay in his hotel room over attending a memorial event in the rain, followed by some early reactions to Macron's scathing takedown of nationalism.

By opting not to honor our soldiers who fell World War One and World War Two, because it was raining and too long a drive. Trump once demonstrated how unfit he is to be the President,... or even a citizen of our great nation

It wasn't because of the rain, folks. Trump didn't go because he thought they were honoring the defeat of the Nazis. He just didn't realize that WW1 wasn't WW2. https://t.co/68Q4tx5mYS
@BeauWillimon
President @realDonaldTrump a no-show because of raindrops? Those veterans the president didn't bother to honor fought in the rain, in the mud, in the snow - & many died in trenches for the cause of freedom. Rain didn't stop them & it shouldn't have stopped an American president.

Donald Trump wouldn't stand in a drizzle to honor our soldiers.
Some men just don't have the stamina to lead.
Imagine if we had a president who had true strength as opposed to exhibiting BS bravado, who wasn't afraid of a little rain, and who didn't hide in his/her hotel room as opposed to honoring our brave soldiers who risk so much. Trump is an embarrassment to this nation. #Pathetic

Macron just gave a speech saying nationalism is the enemy of true patriotism. Trump sat looking angry, not clapping. He is after all a nationalist by his own admission. And he is no patriot. He chooses his own comfort over fallen soldiers, party over country, enemy over ally.
