Now, following their outrageous ceremonies over the weekend, the newlyweds are spilling the details on all of the most heartwarming, emotional, and just over-the-top moments from their marriage in an interview with People.
Jonas Realized a Dream for Chopra She Didn't Even Know She Had
"Every girl dreams of being a princess on her wedding day, but I never had a plan about what I wanted it to be," Chopra told the publication.
Luckily her fiancé was a few steps ahead of her. The singer, 26, suggested they have two ceremonies in India to celebrate their different backgrounds, and Chopra fell in love with the idea. "It melted my heart," she said. "Being able to have two weddings, in India, with our closest family and friends was unbelievably special."
The two shared their special moments with 225 guests, which included Jonas's brothers, Kevin (and wife Danielle), Joe (and fiancée Sophie Turner), and Frankie along with Chopra's brother Siddharth.
On Dec. 1, following a Mehendi ceremony and a Sangeet the night before, the pair exchanged their vows in a Western ceremony on the lawn of the Umaid Bhawan Palace.
Chopra wore a hand-beaded and embroidered Ralph Lauren gown with a 75-foot long veil as she walked down the aisle with her mother Madhu.
According to Ralph Lauren, who posted a description on his Instagram, the embroidery included eight significant words and phrases selected by the bride, including "Family," "Hope," and "Compassion." As for the groom, he had a piece of the bride's dress hand-embroidered with the Urdu words "My Jaan" meaning "My Life" on the interior of his jacket, placed over his heart.
All The Tears and All the Joy
"It was all tears. All tears," the Quantico actress said of the big day. "I could not hold it in. I think I was nervous and scared. But as soon as the curtains opened, and I saw his face it was just like everything settled and I knew I was making the best decision of my life."
The Moment That Meant The Most For Jonas
Jonas found the day to be more than he could have imagined, saying "the emotions were running high during the ceremonies, I think especially during the Western wedding for me," he said. "You know you think your whole life about that moment. Honestly, I could not have imagined it would be as perfect as it was. It was highly emotional."
After exchanging vows for a second time in an extravagant Hindu wedding on Sunday, the week wrapped up with a Biddaai, where Chopra's family blessed her new life with Jonas.
"I love that our wedding was a religious mash-up," said the actress. "We took beautiful traditions that we both grew up with and personalized them in a way that made sense for us. It's been incredible to find the commonalities between our beliefs and figuring out how to blend them in a respectful and meaningful way."
