Brian Austin Green Responds to Follower Criticizing His Lack of Luke Perry Tribute

While many of Luke Perry's "Beverly Hills, 90210" costars paid tribute to the late actor on social media, Brian Austin Green was not one of them.

This didn't go unnoticed by fans, some of whom criticized Green when he returned to Instagram to announce a podcast with direct references to their '90s TV show, but no mention of Perry.

On Wednesday night, Green put up his first post since Luke's passing, revealing the date and location of an upcoming live podcast taping. He revealed it would be recorded at Torrance High School, which doubled for West Beverly High on "90210," and would include "as many" cast members from the show as possible. It'll go down August 31, 2019.

"So fans of the show, fans of us, come check it out," he explained in the video. Before this post, the last thing he shared was the short promo announcing the "90210" revival.

"RIP Luke Perry! I'm not sure how you could do this so soon," one of his followers commented on the post. "I haven't seen anything from you about his passing, maybe I've missed it somewhere. Pretty much everyone else had something to say. It's just not the same without #LukePerry and it seems pointless without him. So sad."

Though many defended Green in the comments, the actor also took it upon himself to respond as well.

"Thank you for your words. Thank you to everyone for sticking up for me but it's not necessary," he wrote. "The passing of Luke is terrible. As was said by many, everyone grieves in different ways. If it's too soon for you to attend what is meant to be a fun night for the fans then you don't have to. Everyone should respect everyone's process."

Green isn't the only one who faced criticism for their lack of tribute for the actor. Fellow "90210" costar Jennie Garth faced a similar situation when her first post after his passing was in celebration of International Women's Day.

The actress, who played Dylan McKay's sometimes-love interest Kelly on the show, hit back at her critics in the comments.

"Hey everyone...I chose to post a pic of my girls today," Garth commented. "Because they are my life. Because today is a day to celebrate all women. It took a lot for me to want to celebrate anything. I thought about it and I know that's the way my dear friend would have wanted it."

"His kids were his life," she continued. "And anyone who knew him know that and knows he didn't give a f--k about social media. So please don't assume or judge or make rude comments. That's really uncool. Sincerely, Jennie."

Garth also responded to another person who alluded to the fact that Tori Spelling hasn't posted anything on social media either, "It's obvious her and [co-star] Tori Spelling didn't have a relationship with him," they wrote. "People who did have had something to say. They may be shocked but they're not mourning." In response, Garth wrote back, "Not cool."

Although they haven't posted a social media tribute, Garth and Spelling did release statements via their publicists following Perry's tragic passing.

Garth said that Perry "meant so much to so many" and called him "such a very special person." She added, "I share my deep sadness with his family and all who loved him. Such a terrible loss." Spelling was equally "heartbroken" and "in utter shock," telling PEOPLE she too felt for the actor's family.

"I'm saddened for his kids whom he adored beyond words. He was so proud of Jack and Sophie," Spelling continued. "Luke was one of the kindest and most humble human beings I've ever known. I'm grateful for the years of friendship we had. He truly was family to me, a protector and a brother. I'm so sorry for the loss that everyone is experiencing."
