Cody details the scary events leading up to the baby's birth, before announcing the little one's name.
"Big Brother" duo Cody Nickson and Jessica Graf are the proud parents of a newborn baby girl.
Nickson announced the good news on his wife's Now What?! podcast on Wednesday morning, after telling a long story of the "emergency situation" that led up to the baby's birth.
"On March 17, St. Patrick's Day, 18.5 inches, 6 pounds 7 oz, Maverick Nickson was born," said Cody. "We couldn't be happier and thank you for all the thoughts and prayers out there."
Explaining why his was the voice listeners were hearing instead of Jessica's, Cody said it was because "the other night we ran into an emergency situation and she ended up in the hospital."
He said Jessica wasn't feeling too well all day on Sunday, explaining that she "lacked energy" and was "sluggish" and "lethargic." Eventually, they did an at home blood pressure test and her numbers were off the charts, approaching a dangerous level.
After calling their doctor, he said to "immediately get to the hospital," as she began having blurred vision, an insane headache and stomach pains.
"They went full on into rushing her into the emergency room," Nickson explained, adding that the doctor then told them it was time for an emergency C-section. "This baby's coming in 15 minutes."
"So, sure enough, after all the prep and everything, 15 minutes later, on St. Patrick's Day, our little bundle of joy arrived," said Cody. "We had our baby girl and fortunately, the surgery went great. Jessica is currently recovering, by all means everything went good with her."
He said she was right next to him as he recorded his message for the podcast, though she was on "a few meds" to stabilize her blood pressure. "For the most part, she's doing really good," he added.
This is the first child for the couple, who tied the knot in October 2018. Nickson has a daughter, Paisley, from a previous relationship.
