Kylie Jenner Defends 'Self-Made Billionaire' Title: 'There's Really No Other Word to Use'

Kylie Jenner has heard your skepticism and she doesn't care. The world's youngest "self-made billionaire," as described by Forbes, says they got it exactly right.

Ever since the magazine made the claim earlier this month, the youngest Kardashian sibling has been hit with constant criticism from social media, with many arguing that because she comes from a famous and rich family, she can't possibly be considered self-made.

Now, the 21 year old is hitting back, telling Interview Germany, "There's really no other word to use other than self-made because that is the truth. That is the category that I fall under."

According to the reality star, all of the money used to create her billion-dollar enterprise, Kylie Cosmetics, was her own. "I did not get money from my parents past the age of 15. I used 100 percent of my own money to start the company, not a dime in my bank account is inherited."

At the same time, she admitted that she did perhaps have a distinct advantage on the marketing front. "I am a special case because before I started Kylie Cosmetics, I had a huge platform and lots of fans," the entrepreneur said.

Jenner launched Kylie Cosmetics in 2015, with the company achieving valuation of $900 million within its first three years. She still maintains sole ownership of it. Jenner, of course, also cashes in on product endorsement deals and that lucrative "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" money.

When she officially achieved billionaire status, per Forbes, she supplanted Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg as the youngest ever; he was 23 when he achieved the feat.

The bottom line for Kylie, though, is that from the age of 15, she has been growing her fortune with her own money, and that includes the meteoric rise of Kylie Cosmetics. So while she may have had a leg up due to her incredible social media following, it was still money she earned herself with no help from her parents.

"And I am very proud of that," Kylie said.

As for what comes next, other than the continued expansion and domination of her main business, Kylie said, "I now want to focus on giving back to people and doing things that I'm passionate about," Kylie said. And she's going to do that on her own, too.
