UPDATE at 9:55am PT on May 1, 2019: According to TMZ's law enforcement sources, cops visited the home on Tuesday night for a welfare check. David allegedly told police the dog, Nugget, was still alive, though wouldn't let them see it. Original story below.

"Teen Mom 2" star Jenelle Evans says she's "heartbroken" and "distraught" after her dog, Nugget, was killed by her own husband, David Eason.

After the news broke on Tuesday, Eason himself confirmed the story on his Instagram page, saying he put the dog down after it allegedly bit the couple's daughter, Ensley.

"I dont give a damn what animal bites my baby on the face... whether it be your dog or mine, a dog is a dog and I dont put up with that shit at all," he captioned a video showing the dog snapping at the 2-year-old girl.

"I'm all about protecting my family, it is my lifes mission," he continued. "Some people are worth killing or dying for and my family means that much to me. You can hate me all you want but this isnt the first time the dog bit Ensley aggressively. The only person that can judge weather or not a animal is a danger to MY CHILD is ME."

He also shared a photo of Ensley's face after the incident.

On her own Instagram page, Evans didn't address how the dog died, but paid tribute. "Nugget... I'm crying everyday. I love you so much and I'm so sorry. I'm speechless," she captioned a photo with the pet.

"You were my side kick and knew the moment I felt bad and would cuddle with me," she continued. "You still had a lot to learn and a lot to grow from your lessons. Everyday I wake up you're not here, when I come home you're not here, when I go to bed... you're not here. You're gone forever and there’s no coming back. #Heartbroken #Distraught."

In the comments, "Teen Mom OG" star Catelynn Baltierra wrote, "I am so sorry....," while "Teen Mom 2" costar Briana DeJesus simply left a crying emoji.

Over on Twitter, Jenelle responded to one fan who asked about David killing the dog. Her response: mind your own business.

In the comments on her Instagram post about nugget, many of Jenelle's fans went off on her husband, telling her it's time she finally leaves him.

"You and the kids are next. GET OUT NOW," wrote one. "Let this be your wake up call," wrote another.

More comments racking up a lot of likes include, "It starts with animals... take your babies and run girl!! Sorry for your loss," "Get out of that toxic place," "i hope your divorcing this POS asap. disgusting" and "You need to see the writing on the wall. This is a huge sign of what he's capable of."
