Just three days after the model shared a video of a steamy makeout session between her and the "Pretty Little Liars" alum, Delevingne opened up to E! News on Monday about why the couple decided to go public.
"I don't know because it is Pride, it's been 50 years since Stonewall happened and I don't know," Delevingne told the outlet at the event, where was she honored. "It's been just about our one year anniversary so, why not?"
While accepting the Hero Award -- which recognized Delevingne's commitment to supporting The Trevor Project's mission of ending suicide among LGBTQ youth -- the 26-year-old actress gave a heartfelt shoutout to Benson, who was in the audience.
"I also have another very special woman in this room to thank and you know who you are," Delevingne said. "She's one of the people who help me love myself when I needed it most and I really needed it. She showed me what real love is and how to accept it, which is a lot harder than I thought."
"I love you, Sprinkles," she added, referencing her sweet nickname for Benson.
Benson shared a video of her leading lady on her Instagram Stories. "Love you @caradevingne proud of you @trevorproject," she wrote alongside the clip.
The "Suicide Squad" star and "Spring Breakers" actress were first romantically linked when they were spotted kissing at London's Heathrow Airport back in August.
A source told E! News the couple has been "living together" for awhile. "This is Cara's first real home in L.A. and they are really enjoying this time together. Ashley has never been in a relationship like this and is happier than she has ever been."
"It's a different type of relationship with a lot of understanding, support and loving communication," the source added. "They just do normal things like get coffee, walk the dog or go to the movies. They like to stay home together a lot and just chill. They are very sweet and loving together. They are always doing simple nice things for each other and it all comes very easy and naturally. They are committed to one another and very much in love."
