After the breakup and makeout moment that took the internet by storm over the weekend. Cyrus was spotted kissing Jenner's recent ex-wife, and "Hills" co-star, Kaitlynn Carter during their Italian girls getaway just a day before Cyrus and her husband Liam Hemsworth announced they were over. Jenner and Carter went their separate ways just over a week ago.
Jenner got a few comments in without response before Cyrus jumped into the fray to basically tell him to calm down. After commenting on a pic of Cyrus and Carter in their bikinis with the phrase "hot girl summer," Jenner made a post of his own that looked like he was ready to look ahead and move on.
It was a picture of himself captioned, "Don't let yesterday take up too much of today." As captured on Comments by Celebs, Jenner's BFF Brandon Lee chimed in with a joke suggesting he and Jenner post a pic of themselves making out to counter Cyrus and Carter's captured moment.
That was enough to pull Jenner back into the fray as he took it in a much more pointed direction, aiming his own snark-asm at Cyrus' ex. "Pics of Liam and I holding hands on the beach coming soon," he wrote, followed by an emoji of two men holding hands.
That was enough to bring Cyrus into the conversation, who gave a callback to Jenner's initial awkward comment, telling him to "go take a nap in your truck and cool off." She made his original comment into a hashtag, #HotGirlSummer, and paired it with two girls holding hands.

Some could argue that the picture he chose itself was a commentary on Cyrus' own Instagram reactions to the news of her breakup and makeout session going wide across media over the weekend. Cyrus shared three separate posts on Sunday, each also showing her out in nature with commentary about moving on and allowing life to progress as it will.
While never directly commenting on any of the specifics as to what's going on (until she chimed in no Jenner's post), it's clear that Cyrus is contemplative about what her breakup with Hemsworth after so many years together, and eight months of marriage.
"My dad always told me 'Nature never hurries but it is always on time'.... it fills my heart with peace and hope KNOWING that is true," Cyrus captioned her first post. "I was taught to respect the planet and its process and I am committed to doing the same with my own."
For her second post, she simply wrote, "New day. New adventure," followed by a callback to one of her earliest hits for her third: "Life's a climb... but the view is great."
Cyrus confirmed her separation from Hemsworth to People on Saturday.
"Liam and Miley have agreed to separate at this time," a rep for Cyrus told the outlet in a statement. "Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what's best while they both focus on themselves and careers. They still remain dedicated parents to all of their animals they share while lovingly taking this time apart. Please respect their process and privacy."
Breakup rumors began circulating after Cyrus, who is on vacation in Italy with Carter and Cyrus's Brandi, shared a photo where Cyrus didn't appear to be wearing her wedding ring.
Cyrus and Hemsworth have had an on-again, off-again relationship since they first met on the set of "The Last Song" in 2009. The couple became engaged in 2012. They broke up, but got back together in 2015 and finally married last December.
Last month, Cyrus expressed to Elle for their August 2019 cover story that she doesn't "fit into a stereotypical wife role" and that she's still "very sexually attracted to women."
While she admitted that her relationship was unorthodox, it apparently was not sustainable for the couple. Meanwhile, Jenner's buddy Lee has indicated that he believes the kiss shared between Carter and Cyrus on the vacation "isn't a thing," according to Us Weekly. As with all developing stories, time will tell.
