The reality star and model revealed her sudden trout pout to her fans on social media, using her face as a hilarious teachable moment.
When a celebrity shows up on social media or at public event with plumper lips -- Kylie Jenner has done this dozens of times now -- savvy fans no longer even act shocked as they feel pretty confident they know what's going on. And yet, Chrissy Teigen may have introduced a surprising new reason behind her own sudden trout pout on Saturday afternoon.
The "Bring the Funny" judge took to social media to share her harrowing journey to attend the wedding of her friends Meghan Mackenzie and Luke Dillon in her home state of Utah.
Maybe it's been too long since she went back home because her body -- and her face in particular -- clearly wasn't ready for Utah's altitude. "Luke, Meghan, why have you chosen to get married in a place which would try to destroy me?" Teigen asked into the camera on her second social media post about the visibly uncomfortable situation.

She captioned that video," This is premeditated murder if you ask me."
But it was her first posts that explained just what the heck is going on. Hilariously, rather than just lament about her clear discomfort as her lips swelled to what looked like at least double their normal size, Teigen decided to use this as a teachable moment.
did u know angioedema can be triggered from altitude sickness? learn something new every day! my lip about to explode. goodbye world pic.twitter.com/3uMfbCJYn5— christine teigen (@chrissyteigen) August 17, 2019
"Did you know angioedema can be triggered from altitude sickness?" she wrote, accompanying a picture of her insanely swollen bottom lip. "My lip about to explode. Goodbye world," she joked.
According to the Mayo Clinic, angioedema is a form of deep-tissue hives that can lead to dramatic swelling, usually in soft tissue areas like the eyelids and mouth (or, you know, the lips!). It's considered an acute flare-up if it only lasts a a short time, which can be as short as minutes or as long as a few days.
Luckily, that appears to be what Teigen went through, as it wasn't too long after her Twitter posts -- and a couple of hits of that sweet, sweet oxygen -- that the model looked back to her usual stunning self as she and husband John Legend attended the wedding, chronicling their normal-lip-sized adventures on Teigen's Instagram Stories.
And now we all know, maybe we shouldn't be so quick to judge why some star's lips suddenly look two to three times their normal size. Maybe they just took an extremely awkward flight to be there for a friend's big day and they're just as worried as we are that their lips might explode.
