Josh Turner Tour Bus Crashes, One Person Killed

One person has been killed and seven more injured in a crash involving Josh Turner's tour bus. The fatal accident occurred on California's Highway 46 in San Luis Obispo County in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Neither the country and gospel singer or his band were aboard the bus, which was carrying mainly road crew for the tour; the musicians were traveling separately.

The crew were traveling eastbound after finishing a concert at the Vina Robles Amphitheatre in Paso Robles the night before, when the accident occurred. They were headed to a concert scheduled for Friday night in Washington. It's not yet known if that concert will go-ahead.

First responders said the vehicle, which was towing a trailer, drove through 20 feet of scrubland before crashing over an embankment and plunging 80 feet down into a dry riverbed.

Two of the eight people on board were ejected from the bus upon impact, killing one. Two of the seriously injured were airlifted to hospital, while the remaining five were transported there via ambulance.

Firefighters had to cut one person from the bus using the jaws of life, while they also had to set up a mechanical rope system to extract the injured from the bottom of the cliff.

According to KSBY, police said drugs or alcohol were not a factor in the crash. The cause of the crash is as yet unknown.

A truck driver witness who was traveling behind the bus right beforehand told the site it was traveling around 60mph when it suddenly veered off the road; he said he did not see brake lights engage.

The names of the victims have not yet been released.
