Kit Harington Admits He Hasn't Seen the Final Season of 'Game of Thrones' Yet

Millions of people tuned in to watch Jon Snow stab a knife through Daenerys Targaryen's heart in the "Game of Thrones" series finale, but Jon Snow himself, Kit Harington, wasn't one of them.

Following the HBO drama's Emmy win for Outstanding Drama Series, the cast was asked backstage about some of the backlash about the final season. The episodes caught criticism for a number of reasons, including Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) going all Mad Queen by burning thousands of innocent people in King's Landing.

Harington, 32, volunteered to answer the question -- but admitted he hasn't even watched Season 8 yet.

"I still haven't seen the show," he said. "So that's how I dealt with that controversy -- I haven't seen the final season but I know what it took to shoot it. It was hard and all of them put their love and effort into it."

He added, "Controversy, I think for us, we knew what we were doing was right, story-wise, and we knew that it was right for the characters because we lived with them for 10 years. Controversy for us didn't really affect us."

"It was always going to be Bran as the king at the end," co-creator David Benioff added.

Peter Dinklage -- who won his fourth Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series Sunday night -- also spoke about how he's going to move on from playing the character of Tyrion Lannister for 10 years.

"I've seen a doctor about getting him out of me. The doctor said it's hopeless," Dinklage joked. "It was ten years of my life. A lot of us had children, a lot of us were children when we started and now we're beautiful grown-ups like [Conleth Hill, who played Varys]."

He added, "It's going to be hard to shake."

When it came to speaking about Season 8's backlash, Clarke -- who played the Mother of Dragons throughout the entire series -- took a glass half full approach.

"It was profoundly flattering," she told Variety. "Because when someone cares that much, that they're ready to make such a noise about how they believe how the characters should have been finished, and how the story should have gone, that's just enormously flattering. That just shows how much everybody loved it."

Despite the controversy, "Game of Thrones" came out on top Sunday night, winning the most awards over any other series. The fantasy drama took home 12 out of the 32 awards it was nominated for, including Outstanding Drama Series, for which it won for the fourth time.
