Missy decided to dress as a '90s icon for Halloween: herself.
She's still got it.
Missy Elliott just posted one of our favorite celebrity Halloween costumes yet, as the rapper decided to pay homage to herself by recreating the cover art to her 1997 debut album, "Supa Dupa Fly."
WOW🤩😱 This Halloween I decided to RECREATE my 1st album cover from 22 YEARS AGO one of these pictures I took ONLY 3 DAYS AGO the other was 22 YEARS AGO CAN YALL TELL THE DIFFERENCE??👇🏾 pic.twitter.com/6BGrjjM78w— Missy Elliott (@MissyElliott) October 28, 2019
Looking at the then and now side-by-side of her photographed on a couch rocking a "MISSY" baseball jersey, even the 48-year-old icon seemed surprised. "WOW," she captioned the photo, along with starry-eyed and shock emojis.
"This Halloween I decided to RECREATE my 1st album cover from 22 YEARS AGO one of these pictures I took ONLY 3 DAYS AGO the other was 22 YEARS AGO CAN YALL TELL THE DIFFERENCE??" she asked her followers.
When one fan noted that the "Now" photo just looked like an HD version of the old one, Elliott replied, "Lol my mom couldn’t even tell but if you look closely you can see the difference but I am more happy that my outfit is still in tack that outfit 22 year old leather."
The Timbaland-produced "Supa Dupa Fly" album made Missy a household name, thanks in large part to the success of lead single "The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)" and its now-legendary Hype Williams-directed music video.
It's been a nostalgic 2019 for Missy, who was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame earlier this year. She also gave one helluva performance at the MTV Video Music Awards before picking up the Video Vanguard Award back in August. The medley also made headlines when, while performing "Work It," Elliott brought out Alyson Stoner -- who starred in the original video when she was just 10.
