"Black Panther" dominates a night that shines a spotlight on the power of representation, shuts down bullying, celebrates real-life heroes and craps on Roseanne Barr.
Chadwick Boseman kept the spotlight on real heroes as he won the award for Best Hero as T'Challa in "Black Panther." He gave his trophy to Waffle House hero James Shaw Jr., saying, "it’s even greater to acknowledge the heroes that we have in real life."
Haddish presented some pretty dynamite pre-taped interludes. She found herself alongside her "Girls Trip" co-stars in "Black Panther," caught between Kylo Ren and Rey in "Star Wars" and got inspired to make her own unique twist on "A Quiet Place."
"Black Panther" beat out some tough competition to be awarded Best Movie. Accepting the award, Michael B. Jordan said, "It’s incredible when the stereotype is that people of color couldn’t bring y’all out to the theater and be able to make these types of films. The fact that we’re able to do this on this scale with this movie, this project, means the world to us."
