Father of the Bride Cast: Where Are They Now?

It's been over three decades since the Banks family made their way into the hearts of moviegoers and the flick became an instant rom-com classic. "Father of the Bride," based on the 1950 film of the same name, was made up of an all-star cast that included Steve Martin and Diane Keaton, among many others. It inspired its own sequel as well as a 2020 reunion, which saw the entire cast come back together for a charitable cause. Now as HBO Max premieres a modern-day remake of the beloved film, it's the perfect time to look back on what the original cast has been up to since "Father of the Bride" debuted in 1991. Steve Martin as George Banks -- Steve Martin has been pretty busy in the three decades since the premiere of "Father of the Bride." In addition to returning for the film's sequel, the "Saturday Night Live" alum also starred in the "Cheaper by the Dozen" franchise, "It’s Complicated," "The Big Year" and the "Pink Panther" films, the latter of which he also wrote the screenplay. He's also had a successful music career, opening two plays on Broadway, and releasing 10 albums, one of which won the Grammy for Best Bluegrass Album. And not only has Martin hosted the Oscars three times, but he's also taken home the Academy Honorary Award, several additional Grammys and Kennedy Center Honors. Martin can currently be seen in the criticially-acclaimed Hulu comedy "Only Murders in the Building."

Diane Keaton as Nina Banks -- Diane Keaton has also achieved legendary status since her role as resident mother of the bride, Nina Banks. Following her role in the 1993 flick, Keaton has gone on to star in "Something’s Gotta Give," "The First Wives Club," "The Family Stone" and "Because I Said So." While she's spent the majority of her career focusing on film, she also made a leap to the small screen in "The Young Pope." Additionally, Keaton has published several books of her photography as well as a memoir, titled "Then Again."

Kimberly Williams-Paisley as Annie Banks -- Since Kimberly Williams-Paisley made her big-screen debut in "Father of the Bride," she's made her mark on the entertainment industry, appearing in shows like "According to Jim" and "Nashville." She's also been in numerous films including "We Are Marshall" and "The Christmas Chronicles" franchise, which she executive produced. Williams-Paisley has also appeared on Broadway and released a book titled "Where the Light Gets In" about her mother's struggle with dementia. Williams-Paisley also met her husband Brad Paisley thanks to her role in "Father of the Bride," with the country star saying he fell in love with the actress when he saw her on the big screen.

Kieran Culkin as Matty Banks -- Kieran Culkin has grown up since playing the youngest Banks family member in the original "Father of the Bride" flick. Over the past three decades, Culkin has appeared in films like "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World," "She's All That" and "The Cider House Rules." He's also had a career on stage, appearing in several productions of "This Is Our Youth," including a run on Broadway. Culkin has also found critical acclaim for his role in "Succession," earning an Emmy nomination for the part in 2020.

Martin Short as Franck Eggelhoffer -- Martin Short was already a comedy icon when he appeared in "Father of the Bride" and his career hasn't slowed down since. He's appeared in numerous films including "The​​ Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause," "Mars Attacks!," "Jungle 2 Jungle" and "Mumford." Short has also extended his career to the small screen, briefly hosting the "Martin Short Show" and appearing in shows like "Law & Order: SVU," "How I Met Your Mother" and "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt." Additionally, Short has lent his voice to quite a few animated films from "Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted" to "The Addams Family." As if that weren't enough, Short also appeared on Broadway four times and took home the Tony for Best Actor in a Musical in 1999. In 2014, he published a memoir titled, "I Must Say: My Life as a Humble Comedy Legend." He currently stars alongside Martin in the Hulu comedy series "Only Murders in the Building."

George Newbern as Bryan MacKenzie -- After filming wrapped on "Father of the Bride," George Newbern made the jump to the small screen, appearing on shows like "The Boys Are Back," "Scandal," "Providence" and "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit." While he's spent a lot of time working in television, Newbern also been cast in numerous movies including "Crazy Eights" "Dadnapped" and "Next Christmas." He's even done some voice acting, including voicing Clark Kent/Superman in the animated series "Justice League."

BD Wong as Howard Weinstein -- After appearing in "Father of the Bride," BD Wong landed a breakthrough role in "Jurassic Park," which helped shape his entire career. He went on to appear in three sequels: "Jurassic World," "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom" and "Jurassic World: Dominion." Wong also has done voice acting, with his voice being featured in numerous franchise projects including the Lego "Jurassic World" mini-series and several video games. He's also appeared in projects like "Gotham," "Law & Order: SVU," "Mr. Robot," "The Flash" and "Awkwafina Is Nora from Queens."
