In a New York Times op-ed essay, George Clooney called for Biden to drop out of the race, citing the Biden he witnessed at a re-election fundraiser he co-hosted last month. "It's devastating to say it, but the Joe Biden I was with three weeks ago at the fund-raiser was not the Joe "big F--king deal" Biden of 2010. He wasn't even the Joe Biden of 2020. He was the same man we all witnessed at the debate," he wrote in part. Clooney stated that the issue is "about age" and "nothing more," and wrote Biden needs to step down or Democrats will lose the election.

Michael Douglas -- who has also been a supporter of Biden -- said on "The View" that Clooney has a "valid point" in calling for him to drop out. "I'm deeply, deeply concerned. I mean, especially it's difficult because the Democrats have a big bench, they've got a lot of heavy hitters, a lot of talent," the actor said, before criticizing Biden's team over how they prepared him for the debate. " ... I don't necessarily worry about today or tomorrow but a year down the line, I worry. I am concerned."

Following his sit-down interview with Biden, ABC News journalist and "GMA" anchor George Stephanopoulos replied to a pedestrian on the street, who asked if he thinks POTUS should "step down," per TMZ. "I don't think he can serve four more years," he said. He later expressed regret over his comments, telling TMZ, "Earlier today, I responded to a question from a passerby. I shouldn't have." A rep for ABC told the outlet, "George expressed his own point of view and not the position of ABC News."

Just over a week after he hosted a fundraiser for Vice President Kamala Harris, Rob Reiner, who was a major donor to the Biden-Harris campaign, shared a statement on X, formerly Twitter, in which he called for Biden to "step down." "It's time to stop f--king around. If the Convicted Felon wins, we lose our Democracy," Reiner wrote. "Joe Biden has effectively served US with honor, decency, and dignity. It's time for Joe Biden to step down."
