Eric Dane publicly shared his recent ALS diagnosis in April 2025. Despite this news, he still plans to film the next season of Euphoria. The former Grey's Anatomy actor told PEOPLE, "I am grateful to have my loving family by my side as we navigate this next chapter [...] I kindly ask that you give my family and I privacy during this time."
Broadway star Aaron Lazar was diagnosed with ALS in 2022 and publicly revealed his journey in 2024. He shared that he doesn't want to "fight" the disease. He referenced the song, The Impossible Dream, from The Man of La Mancha when explaining his mindset: "I don’t want to meet this with any kind of resistance. I want to meet it with ease and joy and healing. So my impossible dream is possible. It’s just to heal — not just the physical, but my whole self.”
Former NFL player Steve Gleason was diagnosed with ALS in 2011. Before his diagnosis, he played for the New Orleans Saints and retired in 2008. He chronicled the first five years of his journey in the 2016 documentary, Gleason.
Former professional football player O.J. Brigance -- who played for the Baltimore Ravens and still works on their administrative staff -- was diagnosed with ALS in 2007.
