Ashlee Simpson's engagement ring got the celebrity treatment!
Jewelry designer to the stars Neil Lane worked very closely with Ashlee's beau Evan Ross when it came to the look and design of her engagement ring.
"He took it very seriously and it was a wonderfully intense process," Lane tells People about the one-of-a-kind ring.
"Evan was really, really sweet and he was looking for something beautiful, a unique ring that said everything: love, romance, beauty, character. He didn't want anything traditional."
Well, the pricey piece definitely looks original!
After Evan spotted one of Neil's antique archival collection rings with a marquise-cut diamond surrounded by small rubies, he knew he wanted something just like that for the blonde beauty.
"When he saw it, his eyes widened and that was it,” explains Lane. "But that was only the beginning."
Once Ross had an idea about the ring, he even consulted with Ashlee's mother Tina Simpson. The 29-year-old's sister Jessica Simpson also has a Neil Lane engagement ring encrusted with rubies.
"He wanted to do the right thing. This is a young fellow in love," Lane reveals. "His taste level is exquisite and he wanted to make sure it was a perfect ring for his love."
The actor was stunned when he saw the five-carat platinum and gold ring which also has 140 white diamonds and small ruby gemstone accents. "Evan was blown away when he saw it!," Lane tells the mag.
