Jessa and Ben Seewald are expecting their second child together, just nine months after welcoming their first son, Spurgeon, back in November 2015.
"We are overjoyed to announce that Spurgeon has a new title in life as 'big brother!'" the couple told PEOPLE. "We are so thankful that God is adding to our family."
"2017 is shaping up to be a wonderful year already, and we know Spurgeon will do a great job in his new role," the two added in their statement. "Having Spurgeon has been such a wonderful blessing, and we cannot wait to see the face of this sweet new baby (or babies!)."
Jessa, 23, and Ben, 21, tied the knot in November 2014 and have been open about adopting a child when it came time for their second kid.
"We have many friends who have walked this road, so we have seen firsthand the amazing power of adoption," she told Us Weekly in May. "There are so many kids out there who are longing for the love of a family, and we feel strongly about opening our hearts and our home to welcome them in."
At the time, they were moving "forward with paperwork," adding they "would love to adopt many kids" in the future.
