I have a little admission.
I frosted my tips back in the early 2000s. Justin Timberlake did. Mark McGrath, too. It really wasn't a great look back then. It's definitely not a good look now.
So, when I saw new photos of Miley Cyrus with her brown roots and bleach blond tips, all I could think was "get thee to a colorist, stat!"
The 20-year-old, who was in New York City attending Rachel Zoe's fashion show (random!), needs to learn that when you dye your hair when it's short, you're going to look like a porcupine when it grows out. Miley's new to the short hair game, having chopped all her hair off back in August.
If she wants to go long again (perhaps for her wedding to Liam Hemsworth), she's going to go through an awkward medium length period that even the best stylists can't do much with. Just ask Anne Hathaway.
