Bruno Mars is not only charming and talented ... he's also incredibly candid!
The "Grenade" singer covers the April issue of GQ where he opens up about his 2010 drug arrest ... and writing/singing about sex.
Three years ago, Mars had a number one single ("Just the Way You Are") but it was his run-in with Las Vegas police that landed his name in the headlines.
On September 19, 2010 the singer was arrested in the bathroom of Vegas' Hardrock Hotel and charged with cocaine possession. Talking about the eye-opening experience, Bruno admits "I was a young, man! I was in f---ing Vegas. I wasn't thinking."
For anyone who's been to Vegas in their '20s ... maybe, you can relate. The 27-year-old adds, "I was really intoxicated. I was really drunk. So a lot of that was a big blur, and I try everyday to forget and keep pushing."
But he did learn an important life lesson -- "It can all be taken away. Put you in a weird place. Embarrass you," Mars tells the mag.
The Honolulu native also opens up about his new CD and current single "Locked Out of Heaven," which describes having intercourse ... but Bruno says his lyrics are what make the song beautiful, not trashy.
Speaking about the sexual nature of the popular ballad he says, "It feels good to sing about. It feels...sexy. It puts you in a sexy frame of mind. It feels good to pro-ject. Sex is a great party starter."
Bruno has another favorite song the album, "Gorilla" .... and it's blatantly sexual with a chorus like "You and me baby, making love like gorillas."
Elaborating on the lyrics, Mars tells the mag "It was just painting a picture—some animalistic sex," he says. "Instead of me singing 'You and me having animalistic sex'—which is a terrible lyric."
