Sofia Vergara is 42 and fabulous!
The "Modern Family" star is gracing the pages of the November issue of Shape, where she's opening up about embracing her curvy figure.
The actress, who sports black bikini bottoms and a plunging top on the cover, says she's always been happy with her body, but her attitude about exercise changed after a certain milestone birthday.
"I hit 40 and I started seeing a softness everywhere on my body … I knew it was time to do something, so I did,” she tells the mag.
The brunette bombshell has been using the Megaformer machine, which is based on Pilates and the Strengthen, Lengthen and Tone philosophy. She also lifts free weights and drinks vegetable juices.
Sofia credits her "Modern Family" costar Julie Bowen for keeping her moving. "Being around Julie and seeing how motivated she is … I started to think more about it," she explains.
While the sexy star needed some extra help to stay motivated, she had "already changed [her] mentality about food" when she moved to Los Angeles in 2005.
"If you live here, you can't always order the high-fat dishes like pasta with truffles. You have a little sushi, and when you're out with your girlfriends you order a nice salad," she says.
Sofia may know how to balance her diet, but she also lets herself indulge. "When I do indulge, I exercise a bit harder the next day. My workout motto is really simple: No pain, no cake!"
And while she loves her sweets, she's considering some alternative methods to prevent her from going overboard.
"I heard about someone in L.A. who got hypnotized so they wouldn't eat candy," she says. "I'm seriously looking into that because I'm obsessed."
