MTV whipped fans into a frenzy when they announced "Jersey Shore" will fist-pump its way back to the network in 2018, but with one glaring omission: Samantha "Sammi Sweetheart" Giancola.
While the specifics of why she isn't returning remain a mystery, Giancola's co-star and ex-boyfriend Ronnie Ortiz-Magro told TooFab that he "respects" her decision to close the door on the "Shore."
"I made a decision and she made a decision, there's nothing I can really say about that," he told TooFab. "It's something she chose to do and it's her choice. So you know, as someone who was around her forever, you gotta respect that. We all respect that and we just wish her the best. If she's happy and she's in an amazing place, God bless her, and we all really do just wish her the best and nothing but good things for her."
'Jersey Shore' Returning In 2018 on MTV with Original Cast Members
View Story"I've gone my own direction and all I can really do is worry about myself and all she can do is worry about herself," Ortiz-Magro added. "They're giving me an opportunity to do something, and I'm choosing to move forward and take advantage of that opportunity."
In addition to Ronnie, Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, Jenni "Jwoww" Farley, Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino, Paul "Pauly D" DelVecchio, Vinny Guadagnino and Deena Cortese will all return.
But if Sammi does decide to surprise the cast while they're filming, Ortiz-Magro said, "I think we're all in different places in our lives, where certain people are focused on who's married and who's buying a house and their careers and all this other stuff, that I really don't think it would even matter."

View StoryRonnie admitted he has "no idea" what to expect for the revival -- dubbed "Jersey Shore Family Vacation" --but hopes they get to shack up somewhere exotic when filming begins.
"I'd love somewhere tropical. You know I was hoping somewhere like maybe Greece or something like that, or maybe like Spain?" he said. "I feel like the US, if we film in the beginning of the year, it's still going to be kind of cold. We're all in a group chat and we're all like, 'Where are we going?' because we don't even know ... we're all stumped!"
One thing he knows he can't wait for is the chance to meet the woman who "tamed" The Situation, Mike's girlfriend Lauren Pesce.
"I haven't had a chance to meet her, but I think I'm going to get to meet her, which I'm looking forward to," added Ronnie. "I want to see the woman that tamed the Situation. I got to meet this magician."
"Jersey Shore Family Vacation" will air sometime in 2018 on MTV.
