View Story"I want to say one thing that's very important to say tonight," Eichner began. "Young people of America, the biggest election of our lifetime is happening...That's right, on November 6."
"Tonight is the final night to register in 20 states in this country," he continued. "Please grab your friends, tell them to vote. Now is the time. If you believe in equality for women -- that's right -- for people of color, for the LGBTQ community, if you believe that climate change is real and that we need to do something about it. Don't let anyone tell you your vote won't count! It counts!"
"You can go to vote.org like Taylor Swift told you to," Eichner concluded.
Later that evening, the comedic actor tweeted: "Went off script at the #AMAs to remind young people to vote and was rewarded with a hug from the awesome @ShawnMendes. NOW LET'S VOTE, PEOPLE!!! https://Vote.org."
