One contestant in particular is dead set on finding out the "why" behind the 26-year-old football player's decision to abstain from sex.
The 30 women vying for Colton Underwood's heart relentlessly press him about his virginity on Season 23 of "The Bachelor," which premieres Jan. 7.
In a new sneak peek of the ABC series, a few of the ladies are seen discussing the football star's purity, but one contestant in particular is dead set on finding out the "why" behind his decision to abstain from sex.
'Bachelor' Trailer Teases Colton Underwood's Dramatic Journey to Love: Will He Lose His Virginity?
View Story"I just wanna know why he's a virgin," 25-year-old Erika from Encitas, California, says to some of the other women while they wait to speak privately with Colton. "Like, are you saving it for marriage? Like, what's going on?"
As a few of the ladies gasp at Erika's plan to be so direct, one asks her if Colton's answer could potentially bother her. She quickly replies, "Maybe!"
One contestant notes, "At least he's a cute virgin," which further fuels Erika's curiosity. "That's why I'm like, this is so weird, because you're so attractive!"
When she finally gets some alone time with Colton, Erika presses the 26-year-old about his purity almost immediately, but the screen goes dark right as Colton begins to answer her question.
But based on their respective views of intimacy, Erika may not be "the one." In the preview above, she tells the camera, "For me personally, sex in a relationship is very important," while Colton tells PEOPLE it's all about the right person and the right time.
"I think there is no surprise that fantasy suites is a big week, and I think that it's also gonna come as no surprise that I know that people are probably gonna put a lot of pressure," he told the publication. "They're gonna view my fantasy suites as like this big week. For me, it's more about the private moment. That's the first time you get to spend time with somebody off camera, and you really get to know and stay up and learn all about them and ask them weird questions that you might not ask them on camera."
Colton also assured his fans that he "stayed true" to himself "100 percent" during the highly anticipated fantasy suites episodes.
"I did things my way, whether that's okay for the viewers and what people are gonna see, that's not up to me," he said. "I'm gonna be there watching with you guys, and I'm excited for it."
New 'Bachelor' Colton Underwood Meets His First Three Bachelorettes on 'Ellen'
View StoryColton also said he had no intention of making his virginity a central focus of his time on "The Bachelorette," "Bachelor in Paradise" and now on "The Bachelor."
"I had no plans on sharing that I was a virgin, but it was something in the moment with Becca [Kufrin] that was important for her to know because that's a small part of who I am," he told PEOPLE. "It was just one of those things that I didn't think was gonna be that big of a deal, but obviously a lot of people latched on to that. I just think it's a decision that I have now consciously made for [however] many years, but it's also something that is such a small part of who I am."
"I do think there is a stigma around athletes," he added. "There's stigmas everywhere in life. There's stereotypes everywhere in life, and I think the more that us as humans can do to sort of break those and show like -- hey, you don't have to fit the mold because you do this or because you play a sport or because you're in the band -- you're a human being. You have a life to live, and you wanna make sure it's the best life and the happiest life for you."
