The "Assassination of Gianni Versace" star slays Carey's hit "Heartbreaker, while Jermaine Dupri takes on her classic R&B song "Shake It Off."
Darren Criss and Jermaine Dupri are paying tribute to the incredible Mariah Carey in the best way possible -- dancing and lip syncing to her songs.
In two preview clips for this Thursday's special "Mariah Carey Tribute" episode of "Lip Sync Battle," Criss and Dupri go head-to-head in a lip sync competition full of sparkle, sass and swagger. And like hosts Chrissy Teigen and LL Cool J, we are absolutely loving it.
Why Patti LaBelle Had to Slap Mariah Carey and All About Her 'Ugly' Alter Ego Priscilla
View StoryIn the teaser, Criss slays Carey's hit "Heartbreaker. However, the actor plays not only one character, but two in his performance. At the beginning of the song, he embodies Jay-Z for the rap verse and wears a large denim jacket, a gold chain and a baseball hat. When the music hits the chorus, Criss takes off the jacket, unveiling a tight crop top and a Carey-colored long wig.
The clip flashes to what looks like a post-performance moment, where Teigen comments on Criss' attire. The camera pans down to show the Emmy winner donning pink sparkly, chunky heels.
"Oh these old things?" Criss jokes while flipping his long hair. "Adorable," Teigen replies.
In another preview clip, Dupri grooves it out to Carey's 2005 hit, "Shake It Off" and is joined onstage with some professional backup dancers. The ladies and gentlemen bump and grind to the sexy R&B tune. Dupri is front and center, rocking a dapper suit and sunglasses like he's at a club. However, the rapper doesn't seem to know all the words to the song, but he makes it work.
At the end of the teaser, we see Carey, who was there, talking to Dupri and she gives the most Mariah Carey response. The singer calls out Dupri for not knowing the lyrics because they collaborated on that exact song.
"Even though you forgot the words to 'Shake It Off,' which we wrote together," Carey says to him. "You forgot some of the words, but I've done that myself so it's okay."
We will have to wait to see their full performances and who will come out the winner when "Lip Sync Battle's" Mariah Carey tribute episode airs this Thursday, Jan. 24 at 9pm ET/PT on Paramount Network.
