"The Righteous Gemstones" star says Kanye West just called him up one day and said he wanted to hang out ... so he flew to Charleston, South Carolina.
Kanye West is certainly known for out-there ideas, but this one may just take the cake. According to Danny McBride on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" Wednesday night, Kanye pitched him on the craziest casting idea yet: Danny McBride as Kanye West.
But that was just the tip of the bizarre iceberg for McBride, who admitted he was completely stunned to get a random phone call from Kanye at all. In the first place, he still doesn't know how Kanye got his number, and in the second place, Kanye was calling to see if he wanted to hang out.

View StoryYou know, like you do with your buddies. Only Kanye and Danny had never met.
"He basically said that he was a fan of mine and wanted to come hang out," Danny marveled. "I think he thought I lived in Los Angeles and then I was like, 'No, I live in Charleston.' He was quiet for a minute and then said, 'Okay, I can go there, too.'"
And he absolutely did. In fact, The Charlotte Observer reported spotting the two together at dinner in May. But dinner, it turns out, was perhaps the most normal thing they did that day.
And it all started with West pitching the idea of a movie about his life. "And he wanted me to play him," Danny told a stunned Jimmy Kimmel. "I thought it was a cool enough idea. I was like, yeah, I would love to hang out and talk about it."
And so Kanye came to South Carolina and the two spent the day together. "We hung out, we went out in a boat. We just talked. He was awesome," Danny said. "It was the most incredible afternoon." And then it got even more incredible ... and memorable after they got back to Danny's house to find his seven-year-old son waiting for them.

"Then we just sat there and watched my son play Fortnite. And then he flew home."
Well, not before they hit up that restaurant, where fans can confirm another crazy detail about the trip. Kimmel wanted to know more about whose idea it was to get Kanye out on a boat with Danny, and the comedian admitted it was his idea, but he did have one concern.
"When he showed up it was in the middle of summer and it's pretty hot in Charleston," Danny recalled. "He was wearing a heavy-duty sweatshirt and sweatpants and we were gonna go out. I was like, 'Man are you sure you-- It's gonna be pretty hot out there.'"

But Kanye insisted he was fine and he was ... just not for long. "We got out on the boat and like five minutes later he was just dripping sweat. He said, 'My assistant said it was gonna be cold here.' I was like, 'No it's South Carolina in July. It's not that cold here.'" And look at that sweatsuit, that is not outside in the south in July gear!
As for the biopic about West's life, he's reportedly been talking about this for years now. However, this casting possibility would certainly push the whole concept into the surreal, indcating West may have an idea well beyond the traditional biopic.
In an effort to be helpful, Kimmel offered himself up as the Kim Kardashian to Danny McBride's Kanye West. "I was about to ask you," Danny joked. "I think that would be a good move."
And now we want this Kanye West biopic more than ever. The crazier the casting, the better!
